Thom and Billie Phillips installed their first alarm system in 1967. In the beginning, the company sold both locally and nationally through a catalog to retail consumers, and to the coin laundry industry, manufacturing and distributing alarms for coin washers and dryers.
By the early 1970s, the company’s focus had shifted totally to the installation of residential and small commercial systems.
From the beginning, the company’s philosophy was to sell only the highest quality products, installed with great attention to detail, and at a fair price. A typical installation might even today require attention to as many as 600 items on a checklist. Steady growth resulted as the public became aware of the BAP logo and the company’s reputation for excellence.
By the mid-1980s, the company added card access, CCTV, commercial fire systems and many other security products to its offerings.
By empowering its employees, BAP has maintained a stable workforce. Even with two new employees who have been with the company about two years, its employees’ AVERAGE TENURE IS 19 ½ YEARS.
The company currently has monitored clients in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. Flatteringly, many Maconites are surprised to learn the company is local, assuming its professionalism is that of a national company.
